OK, who made this Messe? A few weeks ago when I began compiling this pictorial and the companion travelogue, my wife came in to check on me, wondering where I had been for the past several hours (or was it days?...). I explained I had several hundred shots to go through, edit, color correct and format and that then these all need to be put in some sort of order that made sense, and that then I had to add captions, witty captions in particular as these have become a sort of trademark of the pictorials and were, well...they were expected. To this my loving wife asked 'Does it always have to be so elaborate?'. I managed to capture a pile of great moments from this years Musik Messe and spent several thousand moments trying to compile them into something that made sense. Of course nothing really changed in Frankfurt from last year. The acrid blue fog still permeated every hall, every restaurant and every bar. My eyes were constantly red and I was hacking up like a cat at a Gund factory. The selection of artists this year was exceptional -my friends Billy Ward and Dennis Chambers were outstanding as were drumming greats Dave Garibaldi, Ritchie Flores and Horacio Hernandez. I got a few good MPEG clips, so make sure you check those out. At the end of the pictorial you'll find a little bonus - a pictorial travelogue of the post Messe trip that Paul Mason (Tempus drums) and myself made to Berlin. It may be TMI for some of you, but it is what it is. Maybe you'll learn something - I know Paul and I certainly did. Vive la Drumsmith! Enjoy the pics! Ronn |

Lights, camera...Wasting no time - setting up the DRUMIT booth only an hour after landing. |

A common thief is captured in the background as Giovanni Chiarini (DRUMIT) is distracted by an accomplice with a camera. |
It's always a good day when everything arrives and it's all in one piece.
