a drumsmith.com pictorial

Another installment of the Drumsmith.com pictorial series.

If there is an overall theme theme for this year's winter NAMM show pictorial, it would be identity. That theme was evident in almost every aspect of this year's show from the various product line ups to the "security" and "ID" inspections of NAMM badges. As you go through the images I think the finders, losers and seekers will be evident. My thoughts, comments, sarcasm, criticisms & opinions sre merely that - my own. The big story lies between the lines...

You'll notice I've also introduced the 'Smithie award. It's my way of highlighting what I felt were the
best and the worst products, displays and behaviour at the show.

By my count there are around 400 images, so you better get started.
Now go see what we're going to try to sell you this year...enjoy the show.

BEST CASE OF DENIAL

Aquarian drumheads introduced a new 2 ply head...and then split for lunch.

Axis pedals - the fast foot machine

An Axis snare courtesy of Joe Montinerri

Big Bang extended their line up of snare drums by adding a nifty plank model.

The suped up 4 Banger has been selling extremely well. This one s fitted with the new R Class piccolo throw off.

Bosphorus cymbals making another fine showing.

Stanton's signature Pang & Trash

Buddy Rich Drum Company. Here we go with that identity thing I was talking about. Cathy Rich & Bill Morgan rolled out Buddy's namesake drums. These bear a more than striking resemblance to the series that DW introduced not-so-long ago. I'm hoping Bill can continue to build on the name and the quality of these initial offerings.

Cadeson continues to impress with some interesting art work snare drums

Woody Cadeson

Canopus. Snares from A to Zelkova.

Bill Cardwell hauled in some of his better work with C&C drums.

It ain't abalone and maybe that's a good thing. This kit beongs to the drummer for Fall Out Boy.

Ringo's kit. Not a gap or crack on these babies.

This was Chop Shop's second year at NAMM and it's evident that this is a company that has found an original identity without coming off as a bad OC clone. Rikki and crew pay close attention to details like theme and continuity.
